Privacy Policy

Effective October 1, 2026

This policy explains what personal data Voicera handles when you use the Voicera app for Mac, the Voicera API it talks to, and voicera.app, and what you can do about it. It sits alongside the Terms of Service.

Who is responsible

Voicera is made and run by Tony Manh, an independent developer based in Japan (“we”, “us”), who is responsible for your data. Email hello@voicera.app or reach @tonymanh_ on X.

What we collect

We collect only what Voicera needs to work, to bill you and to stay secure.

  • Account. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address and, if the provider shares them, your name and picture. With Apple’s “Hide My Email” we only see the relay address.
  • Voice. While you record, audio streams through the Voicera API to speech recognition and the text comes back. Audio is never stored. The app listens only between the shortcut that starts a recording and the one that ends it, the pill on screen shows when, and a recording lasts at most a minute.
  • Selected text and instructions. When you run a Quick Action or Ask, the app sends the text you selected, the instruction or your spoken question, and the name of the app you are writing in, so the result fits its tone. This is used only to answer that request and is not stored. Voicera never reads password or other secure fields, and you can hide the selection pill in any app.
  • History. What Voicera wrote for you, with its word count, action, app and time. Never the text you selected and never audio. It is kept with your account so it is on every Mac you sign in to, for as long as you choose in Settings, History & privacy: not at all, a week, a month, a year or forever.
  • Usage counts. Words written and audio length per request, used for your weekly limit and the statistics on the app’s Home screen. They contain no text.
  • Actions and settings. Custom Quick Actions, which actions are on and in what order, and your History setting are stored with your account. Everything else, such as shortcuts, microphone and languages, stays on your Mac.
  • Payments. Dodo Payments collects your payment details, billing address and taxes. We never see your card number; we keep your plan, billing interval, subscription status, renewal dates and Dodo’s customer reference.
  • Messages. If you email us, we keep the conversation to answer you.
  • This website. Page views are counted without cookies and without identifying you. Cookies are set only when you sign in, to keep you signed in. Servers keep short lived request logs (IP address, browser, time) for security.

On your Mac

  • Your sign in session is kept in the macOS Keychain.
  • Microphone, Accessibility and Input Monitoring are used only to hear you while you record, read the text you select, put text at your cursor and notice your shortcut.
  • If an app doesn’t accept typed text, Voicera pastes the result and then restores your clipboard.
  • The daily update check sends only the app’s version number.

Why we use it

  • To provide Voicera (contract): your account, dictation, Quick Actions, Ask, History and billing.
  • To keep it working and safe (legitimate interests): preventing abuse, fixing problems and counting website visits in aggregate.
  • To meet legal duties (legal obligation): billing and tax records.

Who we share it with

Voicera relies on a few service providers for hosting and storage, speech recognition, AI processing and payments. Each uses your data only to provide its service to us, and our AI providers don’t train their models on it. We don’t sell your data, share it with advertisers or show ads, and we disclose it to others only when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • Account, settings and usage counts: until you delete your account.
  • History: for the period you choose, or until you delete it.
  • Audio, selected text and instructions: not stored.
  • Billing records: as long as tax and accounting law requires.
  • Emails: as long as needed to answer you and keep a record.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, export or delete your data, and to object to or restrict how we use it. Email hello@voicera.app from the address on your account and we will answer within 30 days. To delete your account and everything stored with it, email us the same way, and cancel your subscription first so you aren’t charged again. You can delete History yourself in the app at any time. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live, or in Japan to the Personal Information Protection Commission.

International transfers

We are based in Japan, and our providers process data in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires it, those transfers rely on safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) between the app, the website and our API, and each account can reach only its own data. If you find a security problem, please tell us at hello@voicera.app.

Children

Voicera isn’t meant for children under 13, or under 16 in the European Economic Area, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has an account, tell us and we will delete it.

Changes

When this policy changes, we update it here with a new effective date. If a change matters, we tell you by email or in the app before it applies.
